Take My Hand: The Night I Walked Into the Magic

When was the last time you allowed yourself to dream up an experience so perfectly designed for you that it felt like your creativity had somehow woven itself into the fabric of reality?

This is probably going to sound a little Matrix-like, but have you ever had a moment that felt so surreal you genuinely couldn't tell if you were dreaming or awake? I had one and oddly enough, all I clearly remember from that moment was a simple phrase:

"Take my hand… and leave your purse behind."

This started as a birthday trip for a friend who had never been to Las Vegas. I wanted to give her the full first-time royal treatment or at least the version I could afford, IYKYK. We drove in my blue Mercedes-Benz, stayed in a penthouse apartment, and explored as much of Vegas as possible. I still remember driving into the city and seeing a massive image of Criss Angel stretched across a building.

Immediately I thought: "One day I want to see that show."

But I brushed it off. After all, this wasn't my trip but we spent days exploring until eventually my friend looked at me and said something I'll never forget: "Let's do something for you." and without hesitation I said: "Criss Angel." This was completely last minute and once we purchased tickets we had no clue where our seats would be.

No plan. No expectations. Just excitement and a little spontaneity. Sometimes those end up becoming the best stories.

So there I was, sitting in the audience absolutely loving every second of it. If you've ever seen Criss Angel's style, you know his performances are wild, mysterious, dark, and over-the-top in the best way possible. I was probably being a little loud...Okay, a LOT loud.

The stage was reset with several chairs and he announced that he was going to invite audience members up for a special part of the show. Immediate chaos ensued.

Hands flying up.

People screaming.

Women jumping out of their seats hoping to be chosen.

I watched him disappear down one aisle... and then reappear walking up my aisle.

Now remember, I wasn't in the front row. Not even close, at least fifteen rows back. As he walked by person after person, I remember quietly laughing to myself thinking: "Who is this man about to send into cardiac arrest?"

And then...

Criss Angel stopped and looked directly at me. Reached out his hand and said:

"Take my hand… and leave your purse."

Y'all, I think my body stopped functioning for five whole seconds. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't think.

I just remember standing up and following him like I had entered some kind of dream state. So I left it all behind. My purse, phone, wallet...EVERYTHING.

To this day, I honestly don't remember much of what happened once I got on stage. I don't remember instructions. I don't remember what role I played. My mind wasn't focused on what was happening. I was thinking about how it happened. That out of hundreds of people...How did I end up there? How many tiny decisions had to align?

The trip.

The timing.

My friend suggesting we do something for me.

The last-minute tickets.

The aisle seat.

Every "YES!" somehow stacked itself together and created one unbelievable moment. Maybe that's what real magic is. Not disappearing acts or illusions but the magic is recognizing those moments in life where everything quietly aligns and reminds you that

You are exactly where you're supposed to be.

Reflection:

Have you ever experienced a moment that felt too perfectly timed to be random? A moment that made you stop and wonder if it was that coincidence... or something more? Drop your story in the comments below. I want to hear your "there's no way that was random" moments.

Because sometimes life has a funny way of lining things up when we least expect it. Sometimes life whispers before it shouts and sometimes it just simply says:

"Take my hand."

Until next time:

Be Present. Be Aligned. Be Worthy.
